Semperit Speed-Grip 5

TÜV SÜD certifies the quality of the new Semperit Speed-Grip 5

Hanover, July 2021. For the retyring season in the coming autumn, the Semperit brand presents an innovative new winter tyre, the Speed-Grip 5. For the market launch of the new product, Semperit commissioned TÜV SÜD with an independent comparison of the competitors. The result: In the highly demanded tyre size 205/55 R 16 T for compact vehicles and those of the lower middle class, the Speed-Grip 5 convinces with good winter characteristics and beats the four competitor products of a German, an American and two Asian brands tested in the majority of the test criteria. In the TÜV SÜD comparative test, the Semperit Speed-Grip 5 wins in wet handling as well as in dry braking and is best in fuel consumption. Its rolling resistance is 17.5 percent lower than the average of the competitors. This makes the new Speed-Grip 5 the top performer compared to the competitors tested in its market segment.

Semperit Speed-Grip 5

With the Speed-Grip 5, Semperit is successively replacing the proven Speed-Grip 3 and Master-Grip 2 this year. The tyre engineers have succeeded in achieving progress with the new development compared to both predecessor models. No wonder: After all, Semperit now has 85 years of experience in the development and production of high-performance winter tyres. The market launch will take place in two phases: As of now, 66 sizes between 14 and 20 inches are initially available - including 19 completely new ones. In the coming year, the range will be further expanded. The speed ratings range up to 270 km/h.

The test was conducted by TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH on behalf of Semperit between February 2021 and March 2021. Tyre size was 205/55 R 16 91 T, test vehicles were a Golf VII 1.4 TSI, a Golf VIII 1.5 TSI and a Golf VIII 2.0 TDI; test site: snow: Continental Arvidsjaur (S), wet and dry tests: Contidrom, (D), ATP Papenburg (D), rolling resistance and high speed tests: TÜV SÜD PS Garching (D), rolling noise: Neubiberg (D), report no. 713205315-TM.
